Wow, very happy to have found Media is Plural! I surfed here from the AlterNet story which I found in turn from www.saturation.org.
Hey, in the blogrolling I note the absence of the media graphic deconstruction site Bag News Notes.

Perhaps Miller would have had to go to the White House for the rest of the story. Perhaps that is why it would have never been a fuly developed story. But wouldn't just the bit of information they did have been good for the public to know during the build up to the War in Iraq. If terrorists were planning an attack on the U.S. that was so big the THE U.S. WOULD HAVE TO RESPOND, wouldn't that have made people wonder about the terrorists motives to drag the U.S. into a protracted war? I mean why would the terrorists want a respopnse from the U.S.? Wouldn't that bit of information provided U.S. citizens with a sufficient level of doubt about the wisdom of a retaliation and hence possibly prevented an attack on Iraq? That is of course if you assume that the collapse of the World Trade Center towers were the sole work of a group of terrorists hunkered down in Afghanistan. Please see:

I think the real crime hasn't even been addressed yet. I think Miller and others are being played by the master marianette.

Maybe I haven’t been reading this blog carefully enough in the past, but this story does nothing to support my previous opinion that Rory is a perceptive commentator.
News flash to Rory O’Conner: Regardless of how many Pulitzer Prizes she has won, Judith Miller is an entirely untrustworthy “reporter.” Moreover, this was evident AT THE TIME she was writing her stories as a propaganda agent for an unjustified and criminal war. Oops.....I’m sorry, Judy’s unapologetic excuse for serving as a conduit for unreliable and biased sources is that ”you go with what you have.” And now we will go with another ”impeccable” source for an exclusive story which she has succeeded, for reasons which have not yet been explained, in getting published on this blog. I guess Rory doesn’t need any other part of this story, including her “impeccable” source, independently verified or identified before publishing it: After all it has been vetted by Pulitzer Winner Judy “I fuckin got it right” (referring to WMDs) Miller.
Rory, I have a question: by publishing this story, does this mean that you give up any claim to criticizing the NYT for printing Judith Miller’s WMD propaganda pieces which were highly instrumental in achieving the US invasion of Iraq?
If not, I’m guessing a very large percentage of your readers would like to hear an explanation for this.
