Ann Coulter Should “Go Into Rehab”

I know it isn’t fashionable, but I feel sorry for Ann Coulter.

While it would no doubt prove eminently, if only momentarily, satisfying to denounce Coulter in terms familiar to her and similar to those she regularly rains on others — I shall refrain.

The deranged woman obviously can’t help herself…

Best-selling author and conservative commentator Coulter stepped over the line of acceptable public discourse again this weekend, telling a largely appreciative crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference she “was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word ‘faggot,’ so I–so kind of an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards.”

Coulter is correct. She should go into rehab. I don’t know the woman — but if I did, I’d be jumping up and down and calling for an immediate intervention. Isn’t it obvious that she is in dire need — not of calumny or further condemnation — but instead of professional assistance? Isn’t it clear to all by now, to her sycophantic supporters, to her CPAC pals, to the Republican presidential prospects toadying up to them, even to her sensation-seeking ratings-sucking media enablers (Memo to Matt Lauer: Run!) that she is becoming unhinged and incapable of preventing her own inexorable, slow-motion, and increasingly public self-destruction from playing out in full pathetic public view?

If not, why not? And if so, why are they all still playing along???

Sure, Coulter has a long and notorious history of making such offensive remarks, most recently offending the “Jersey Girl” 911 widows in a typically scurrilous, heartless and pain-producing manner. Yet until now, her media enablers at places like NBC’s Today Show keep affording her a platform for spewing her vitriol to millions. They benefit from the “buzz” and “edge” that Coulter’s controversial hate speech engenders, while at the same time cynically distancing themselves from it with false morality. She meanwhile prospers from the publicity and her infamy with consequent commercial success. It’s a two way street that leads to millions for the party at each end.

Once again, Coulter is attempting to dismiss her latest hate speech as nothing more than “a joke.” This ugly charade should soon stop. Mainstream media bookers and anchors must take the pledge: no more airtime, no more newspaper columns, no more attention paid to Ms. Coulter or her noxious remarks. Political candidates like John McCain, Rudy Guiliani and Mitt Romney must go beyond their previous embrace of Coulter and current pro-forma objections to her latest crack to full-throated denunciation of the bigoted beliefs she represents.

Reasonable people will agree that there is no place for such venom or bilge among those engaged in democratic discourse anywhere in the marketplace of ideas. Coulter should be shunned. How will her books sell and her speeches pay when Coulter finally becomes radioactive (even as she must) in the MSM? How much longer will Mitt Romney — whom Coulter says she is likely to support — be able to laugh her off as a “moderate?” Where are her friends and family, her conservative cohorts, her publishers and syndicators? Who should — who will — step up and step in to clean up this latest train wreck at the treacherous nexus of Big Politics and Big Media?

Let’s be clear — I’m not advocating that anyone should censor this harridan of hate. But for her own sake (as well as that of the rest of us) if any friends or family do remain, will they please take Ms. Coulter to the rehab that even she is hinting — in her profoundly Freudian way — is now necessary?

Ann Coulter thinks about dead people when she’s making love.

Enough of Ann Coulter. My advice: Ignore her. Don’t listen to her. Don’t buy her books. Don’t read her columns. Turn off the TV when she is on.

Soon enough, she will go back to being a law clerk or whatever she did before she became a public figure.

Geez folks. So we don’t agree with the way Coulter talks. As Douglas Stewart says, if you don’ like it, don’t listen. BUT, this is America. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. You don’t have to agree.

Ann Coulter cannot be taken seriously. The vast majority of people are not any paying attenition. The few that are should by now becoming quite bored with her tedious blather.
But here’s the REAL story on Ann Coulter: Annie is sex starved. No wonder ! look at ‘er ! A bleached mop mounted on a stick. Attempts to find love and sex with Rush failed. Limbaugh’s cigar got in the way. I dunno, you figure it out.
Anyway, she’s now on the prowl for Romney. Sucking up to him, pining for love, but doesn’t trealized that he’s a no broads need apply LDSer. Mormons like their women QUIET and in the background. McCaine won’t do either. So many flop flops, he’s gone limp.
Poor Annie. No love. No sex. No prospects.
You’re right, Rory. She needs rehab - - and a body makeover.

From one Rory O’Connor to another (can you believe it?!),I’m more inclined to let Annie rant, let her scream until her tongue falls off and all sane people shun her. She’s off her rocker.

Hay FRED, you are right on, man…..listen to the left and it is all bull-shit….they can’t even agree with each other…..and other stupid American democrats still think the dems are for the POOR WORKING MAN….what a bucket of shit…ther dems are for taking your money with taxes, handing it out to the ;;poor'’ and that is ther way to buy vote..make the people lazy. so they become dependent on you, and sure, they will vote for the ‘’TEET'’ that feeds them…I have been trying to figure out why the dems couldn’t do away with the ‘’poor'’ while they controled Washington for 40 years…..statics prove they actually increased the amount of people on wellfare….sure way to get re=elected…………..do you like to get pick pocked by the likes of TEDDY? who has millions. where is his bank account ….like all the Kennedys in an off shore bank….. and his registered residence is not Massachussets, but NY……..Kerry is another rich guy, as is Lohn Edwards, and Al bore…lol….
Look up the millionare list…interesting that there are more dems than rebulicans,,,,why? because they keep theeir hands in our pockets, get their connections, and the hell with the little guy. as every knows, grass gets walked on,,,so the little guy is rifgtfull called the ‘’GRASS ROOT’S'’PEOPLE…I TOOK WINSTIN CHURCHILL’S ADVICE ‘’If you are not a liberal when you are 20, you have no heart. If you are not a conserative when you are 40 YOU HAVE NO BRAINS……….I was born into a democrat family , but at 42 my brains matured and I re registered to be a PROUD REPUBLICAN. Who else but a democrat would keep a killer, a couple of theives, a security risk. and a
    cigar stuffer in their midst?

I have been warning conservative acquaintances off Ann Coulter for about a year. She has borderline personality disorder. There is no core principal to her. She will not go into rehab, because borderlines don’t do that. She will snap at some point, and reverse political labels, not out of belief, but following the weird logic of her disease. Look at her profile, she has never been in charge of anything. She is always assuming an identity, and has found a good disguise for her free-floating fury as take-no-prisoners conservative. But she has no ideology — she can’t take prisoners because she has no place to hold them!

Great blog name, by the way!

Coulter is still trying to pass this off as a joke, and yes as her supporters pointed out in the following days that was a speach that was joke-after-joke. Unfortunatly, from what i heard of it, they were all insulting cheap-shots at the Demacrates.

Half the time Coulter rely’s on obsure, irrevelant or non-existant facts to make it look like she actually has a point. If you don’t believe me, look up her interviews with both BBC and CBC. In the Canadian interview she said that Canada sent troops to Vietnam (which we didn’t). In the BBC one she says that having children learn to become enviromentally friendly is “a crazy religious belief” enforced by the liberal education system.

Now i’m not sure where she took religion but nowhere in my university religious studies courses was enviromentalism mentioned as a religion. Yes, it is a belief, it is at times pushed harder by some governments then others, but until you find me a cult of people that worship tupperware (and happen to have infultrated the public school system in the USA) I am not willing to call it a religion, and certianly not a school based one.

What bothers me is not her point of view or her retaining it. Everyone is intitled to their opinion however right- or for that matter left- wing it may be, as long as they can support it. It is her lack of proper research and her inability to withstand debate without resorting to name calling - ie calling clinton and numorous others gay. It is the simple fact that she she seems to be constantally sidestepping questions and giving non-answers, or simply saying things to get people riled up. Ann is unable to support her opinion.

I would ask her to go and do some serious thinking about her logic before stepping into the arena again. This, however, will not happpen becuase she has managed to get enough people angry at her that she is not only on the best sellers list, but is getting much more air time then she deserves. It goes to show i guess that if you can get enough people angry with you, you can end up on fox news, to get more people angry at you.

This said, I am buying the book. I, for one, like to know what I am talking about.
