Lakeman appears to be one of those "Christians" who follow Christ's injunction to torture our enemies. Eight years ago he would have been telling us Saddam deserved Hell, because he tortured his enemies.

Of course now, Lakeman has become a quick convert to Stalinism, and shows, like all too many who should know better, that he has no idea what has made America great other than being the biggest bully on the block.

I weep for my country with such citizens in it.

Just why does all the US torture debate assume that the issue is so new, so post-9/11?
Nobody ever mentions the heavy use of torture in the US conquest of the Philippines around 1900, or the 'tiger cages' in Vietnam.
Torture in war is as solid a part of US history as is collective amnesia.

The television and radio media failed to analyze what took place. The news media were the cheerleaders. Torture is illegal regardless of what other name is given to it. Spain is doing what the United States Congress and Senate should be doing. We should have a special prosecutor investigating the allegations.

So Lakenanne, you believe that "if the president does it, it is not illegal"?
